The part most tools get wrong
To make a collage, most AI tools upload your photos. To turn a report into a PDF, they upload the report. To build a video, they upload everything.
Every one of those is a copy of your material sitting on someone else's disk — and with family photos, client documents or anything under an NDA, that's the whole objection.

Where this actually runs
The work happens in a sandbox — a small, disposable workspace that WorkByte sets up for you.
On the free tier, that sandbox runs on your computer. Your files never leave it. On a paid tier, you can move that heavy processing to our cloud instead if you'd rather not have your laptop doing the grinding — that's the trade you're choosing, and it's the only thing the tier changes.
The sandbox is kept separate from your projects on purpose. Scratch work — half-finished renders, intermediate frames, temporary files — stays out of the folders you care about.
Honest limits
- The AI model still sees what you send it. If you attach an image to a conversation for the model to look at, that image goes to whichever provider you configured. Local processing covers the making of things, not what you choose to show a model. Point WorkByte at a model on your own hardware and even that stays in.
- Generated media is composed, not dreamed up. WorkByte builds videos, collages and documents out of material you provide — your images, your text, your data. It is not a text-to-image model inventing pictures from nothing.
- First run downloads the toolkit. About a gigabyte, once, so everything after that works without reaching out.
